- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was discussed with the director concerning volunteers, training, and a system for getting childrens' records updates.
The inspector conducted an unannounced mandated inspection from 10:50 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. There were nine children in care with staff four staff supervising at all times. The children were observed during free play, getting ready for and having lunch, having a bathroom break, and getting ready for and having a nap. Three children's records were reviewed and three staff records were reviewed. Staff are not MAT trained and do not administer any medications. Violations from the last inspection had been corrected. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C Description: Based on record review, the center did not have staff members obtain and submit the results of the follow-up tuberculosis screening. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed three staff records. Two out of the three records (record #1 and #2) did not have follow-up t.b. screenings. The last t.b tests completed were both dated 4/15/2014. Plan of Correction: The director stated that she will have the tb tests completed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation, the center did not follow the standard for hand washing. Evidence 1. The inspector observed the staff having the children use hand sanitizer before lunch. Plan of Correction: The director instructed the staff that children's hands must be washed with warm water and liquid soap before eating during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not follow the required procedure after diapering. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed at staff person cleaning the diaper pad with a spray bottle filled with soap and a sanitizer. Plan of Correction: The director instructed the staff during the inspection that the changing surface must be cleaned with soap and at least room temperature water and sanitized after each use.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review, the center missed a monthly practice evacuation drill. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed monthly drills. The drill for November of 2015 was missing. Plan of Correction: The director stated she would make sure all monthly drills were completed in the future. Not correctable.
