Reminder to practice and document one more shelter in place drill before the program year ends.
Today an unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 9am. There were two licensed programs in session during this inspection. The enrichment program had 15 children and 2 teachers and the 2 1/2 year old program had 10 children and 2 teachers. Children were playing outside on the playground, washing hands and eating snack. Seven medications with authorizations were reviewed in addition to 2 children's records. Staff MAT (medication administration training) training, daily health observation and First Aid/CPR were reviewed and current. This inspection, including the exit interview, ended at 10:40am. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on observation, one child's medication has expired and was not returned to the parent or disposed of within 14 days. Evidence: A medication for child #1 had an expiration date of 12/15 and is still on-site. Plan of Correction: We will notify the parents today and request a new one.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on direct observation, food brought from home was not labeled. Evidence: In the enrichment program, two lunch bags with snacks did not have complete labels. One bag was labeled with a child's name but had no date on the snacks that were not prepackaged. One lunch bag did not have a child's name or date on the foods. Plan of Correction: We will email parents to remind them to label and date all foods brought in, including the lunch bags. Staff will also double check the labels at drop-off in the mornings.
