Today an unnanounced renewal inspection was conducted with Director. This visit took place in the morning between 9:40-12:30. Both buildings were observed with a total of 54 students with 6 staff within the supervision guidelines. The students were observed having morning snack, actively engaged in self-selected activities such as sewing, painting, counting, learning the map, polishing shoes, and having lunch and dismissal. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, liability insurance, medication and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, cleaning materials were found unlocked and accessible to children. Evidence: In building #1, a laundry detergent was found on the floor in the kitchen accessible to children. Plan of Correction: The detergent will be removed during this inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E Description: Based on a review of the monthly evacuation drills, the center did not have documentation of a monthly drill for the following months. Evidence: No documentation of a fire drill for January 2016 in building #1 No documentation of a fire drill for February 2016 in building #2 Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to conduct one each month.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-M Description: Based on observation of the center's written accident reports, a random sampling of reports were missing documentation of two staff signatures, date & time of notification of parents and future action to prevent reoccurrence. Evidence: 15 out of 30 accident reports reviewed were missing from the form date & time of notification to parent, 2 staff signatures, future action to prevent reoccurrence. Plan of Correction: The reports will be modified and the missing information will be added and staff will be reminded to fill out the form completely.
