22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on May 18th 2016 between 9:30am and 12:15pm. There were 210 children the direct care 52 staff members. Children were observed having circle time, playing on the playground, having snack(water, raisins, and cereal), washing hands, singing, reading, and dancing. Staff were observed interacting positively with the children. A sampling of children's records, staffing records, evacuation drills, medications, authorizations, medication administration, the physical space, and supervision were observed and inspected. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method. Evidence: In rooms 113 and 201 disinfectant sprays were in unlocked cabinets that were not latched shut.

Plan of Correction: Will remind the teachers to latch the latches.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3
Description: Based on observation, not all outlet covers had protective coverings. Evidence: In rooms 201, 206, 111 did not have protective coverings in each outlet.

Plan of Correction: We will look into replacing all the outlet covers with permanent ones.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on observation, the center did not document all practice evacuation drills. Evidence: The center did not document the evacuation drill dated November 18th 2015.

Plan of Correction: We will put the form on the shared drive so all staff can document the drills.
