Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, June 14, 2016 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The licensing inspectors arrived at approximately 8:45am and concluded the inspection at 11:30am. The children were engaged in a variety of activities upon the inspectors arrival. The pre-kindergarten were observed playing in centers Children played a memory game with staff, colored & traced stencils, and looked at books. Today was career day and the children were dressed as to what they wanted to be when they grew up (cowgirl, ballerina). Preschool children were having a "fancy" Tea party and were dressed up in dresses and bow ties. Later the preschool classrooms had gathered for a story before having center time. Upper nursery children were observed outside on the playground. Children climbed on the small climber and played on the teeter-tooter. Children worked on their journals upon returning to the classroom. The Junior kindergarten class created a block kingdom with a mansion. Classrooms were decorated with seasonal decorations and children's art work. Morning snack was observed. Staff cleaned the tables and hand washing was conducted before children sat down. Staff interacted, encouraged children and assisted with activities. The inspector interacted with children and staff during the inspection. The classrooms have a variety of age and stage appropriate materials that are in operable condition. All classrooms were inspected to include the front entrance, kitchen and the cafeteria. The play grounds were inspected. A children's garden has been created. Children are growing corn and tomatoes. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedule, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, menu and various parent information. The first aide kit and the emergency supplies were inspected and found to be complete for the building and three center van/buses. Three employee records and five children's records were reviewed during today's inspection. Medication is being administered. Medication and medication authorizations were reviewed. There are multiple staff with current MAT training. The majority of staff and all van drivers have current CPR, First aid and daily health observation training. Current Health Inspection: 02/09/2015 Current Fire Inspection: 09/11/2015 The last emergency evacuation drill was conducted on 05/12/2016, The two required shelter-in-place drills for the 2015 year were documented on 03/17/2015 and 11/28/2015. The two shelter-in-place drill for 2016 were completed on 02/17/2016 and 05/20/2016. The emergency preparedness plan had been reviewed/updated. Liability Insurance expires 12/01/2016. Today the following ratios were observed: Toddler Room: 7 toddlers with 3 staff. 2's Nursery: 11 children with 2 staff. 3's Pre-School: 13 children with 3 staff. 3-4's Pre-School: 7 children with 1 staff. 4's Pre-K: 14 children with 4 staff. Jr. Kindergarten: 8 children with 2 staff. School age: Not in attendance during inspection. The monthly menu was posted and today's lunch consisted of: hamburger on a bun, sweet potato fries, applesauce and milk. The violations from the previous inspection on November 13, 2015 were checked for corrections. There were no repeat violation cited during today's inspection.
