An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. Observed 18 children directly supervised by 4 staff members. Supervision was in compliance. Ratio requirements were in compliance; except, in the Pre-K classroom from approximately 9:30am-9:45am. A sample of 1 child, and 1 staff member were reviewed. The physical plant, emergency supplies and procedures were also reviewed. No medications were reported to be on site. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: free play, practicing for graduation, coloring, and infant care. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. The exit interview was conducted with the Assistant Director. Inspection conducted 9:30am-10:45am. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-3 Description: Based upon observations made and interview, staff-to-children ratio requirements of one child for every eight children were not met when a two year old child was present in the Pre-K classroom. Evidence: Upon arrival to the Pre-K classroom at approximately 9:30am, there were 13 children under the supervision of one staff member, exceeding the required ratio by 5 children. A staff confirmed that Child A (2 year old) was in attendance and under her care in the Pre-K classroom as the child was transitioning. A second staff arrived to the Pre-K classroom arrived at 9:45am. Staff to children ratio requirements were exceeded by 5 children from approximately 9:30am to 9:45am, when a second staff member arrived. Plan of Correction: Not available online.
