Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-B
Complaint related: Yes
Description: Based on interviews with staff, staff #1 did not use constructive behavior guidance with a toddler on July 13, 2016. Evidence: 1. Interviews with staff were conducted with two staff. It was revealed that on July 13, at approximately 940 AM, a toddler had been crying and staff #1 acknowledged that she raised voice too loud to tell toddler to stop crying. She admitted that she was too loud and her tone was rough. Staff stated she is being trained and another staff has been included in class to help retrain her on techniques as she stepped down to an assistant position.

Plan of Correction: We conducted a thorough investigation about interaction and voice allegation and staff was placed on administrative leave. Upon conclusion of investigation which included talking with parents, staff was permitted to return but offered an assistant position. She will work under someone who can be an excellent role model when dealing with stressful situations and we will evaluate everyday performance. She has been a staff for over 3 years and has attended various trainings and we will continue to work with her. We also made it clear staff will be asked to leave if necessary.
