22VAC40-185 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.
Arrived 8:00am Departed 10:30am An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed today. Five infants were present with three staff. Eight toddlers were present with two staff. Eight twos were present with one staff member. Seven children were in the the threes' class with one staff member. Five children were present in the fours' with one staff member. Six children were present with one staff in the pre-k class. The children were eating breakfast and lunch, playing in centers, drawing and reading. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on the tour of the playground, the facility did not maintain the playground surface in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. There is exposed landscape fabric on the preschool playground which is a tripping hazard. Plan of Correction: The director will purchase and install more mulch. The playground will be raked to cover the landscape fabric.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on a tour of the infant playground, the facility did not insure that all climbing equipment is over resilient surface material. Evidence: 1. There is an 18" plastic slide on the infant/toddler playground that is not on a resilient surface. Plan of Correction: The director will insure that the slide is moved to an area with resilient surfacing or removed. Corrected during inspection.
