An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted today. Eighteen children were present with three staff and two volunteers. One emergency medication was on-site with a staff having MAT certification. Lunch boxes were properly labeled and dated. Children were engaged in several craft projects, free play and transition to water play. The playground was not available today as maintenance was happening. The co-op program rooms were also reviewed. Four children were present with a staff member and two co-op parents. Diapering, nutrition and emergency preparation was reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on medication review, a medication authorization for 1 child was missing a parent signature. Evidence: Child #1's medication authorization contained the physician signature and consent for emergency treatment but was not signed by the parent to authorize staff to administer the medication if needed. Plan of Correction: Program staff will have the parent sign the authorization at pick-up today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review, an evacuation drill was not practiced each month. Evidence: The log for evacuation drills did not include a practice drill for the month of May. Plan of Correction: Program management will ensure a drill is conducted every month.
