Comments:
An unannounced renewal study was conducted from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with the owner/center director and assistant director. 30 children, ages 2 years to 5 years old, were in the care of five staff. Children were observed having a pretend tea party, building with Legos, doing puzzles, eating lunch, and having rest time. The last emergency escape drill was 7/11/16. The last shelter-in-place drill was 6/20/16. The first aid kit was complete. Battery operated radios and flashlights were accessible. Three staff records and three children's records were reviewed and complete. For any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector Marty Quade at (540) 272-5065 and Marty.Quade@dss.virginia.gov.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-80-A
Description: Based on review of written classroom attendance records and staff interview, the center did not maintain an accurate written record of children in attendance. Evidence: On 8/12/16, the written attendance record in the two year olds classroom indicated nine children were present. However, only seven children were physically in the classroom.

Plan of Correction: The attendance was corrected during the inspection. The attendance had not been updated since the morning. The director will speak with the teacher about updating the attendance record.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B
Description: Based on observation, the center did not have a current health department inspection. Evidence: The last health department inspection was dated 7/31/15.

Plan of Correction: The center is currently licensed with the Health Department until December 2016, however our inspector has not shown. The director will call the health inspector first thing on Monday to check on the status of his overdue inspection.
