- Technical Assistance:
We discussed the requirements for posting emergency procedures/maps. The risk assessment for a violation was provided. We reviewed your written plan for emergency preparedness regarding shelter-in-place procedures. The administration needs to adhere to a schedule for reviewing and updating the written plan. Let me know about any changes to the written plan. We discussed injury records and documentation required by the licensing standards.
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 2:05 PM to 5:20 PM. Today, there were twenty-five children with two to three staff. It was reported that seven children received care by two staff before school. I viewed program activities, daily routines, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, posted information, injury records, emergency supplies and drill records, medication for one child, training for two staff, three records for children, snack/menu, agency inspection reports, indoor and outdoor areas. The children enjoyed active play in the gym, a craft, table activities, and outside play. Homework assistance was provided at one side of the cafeteria. The staff were observed providing frequent interactions with children, needed guidance and instructions, and adequate supervision.
Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-C Description: Based on a review of the posted information, and an interview with administrative staff, the emergency shelter-in-place procedures/map did not include procedures during the gym use. Evidence: The map posted in the cafeteria for the Kid Central procedures only included information for a shelter-in-place location while using the cafeteria. A staff person indicated that the procedures/map was re-posted in the gym at the start of the school year and is not where it was placed on a gym wall. Plan of Correction: The site director/team leader will post another shelter-in-place procedures/map which includes information for gym use. The site director/team leader will make sure all required information is posted at all times.
