Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-B
Complaint related: No
Description: Based on staff interviews and observations, it was determined that on Thursday, August 18, 2016 one group of preschool children were not provided age and stage appropriate equipment for a brief period of time. Evidence: On Thursday, August 18, 2016 the 4 year old preschool children engaged in outdoor play on the enclosed toddler playground in order to separate these children from the 3 year old children who were engaging in water play activities on the large playground. While on the toddler playground, the preschool children engaged in play with the toddler toys/materials/equipment that was already on the playground. These materials are indicated for use by children age 2 and under; therefore, the equipment was not age and stage appropriate for the 4 year old preschool children.

Plan of Correction: - Management has spoken to all teachers regarding remaining on their respective playgrounds. [sic] - Teachers are ensuring that all children remain on their own playgrounds... Toddlers and Twos will not intermingle with the preschool children. [sic] - Teachers have been given a schedule of playground times and locations to ensure compliance. [sic] - All newly hired teachers will be given the schedule to follow. [sic]
