- Technical Assistance:
Today it was noted that there were openings in the fence that surrounds the outdoor play area utilized by children in care. Staff were able to clearly articulate their procedure for placing cones along the openings and strategically locating staff in front of these areas to monitor children. However, it is strongly suggested that repairs to the fence be made to ensure that children do not exit the designated play area or access the street that runs adjacent to the field.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:10 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. At the time of entrance the following adult to child ratios were observed: Classroom A - 18 children, ages 3 to 4 years old, with 2 staff Classroom B - 18 children, ages 3 to 4 years old, with 2 staff The records sample size consisted of 4 children?s records. Staff records are housed at a central location and will be reviewed at a separate inspection. Children were observed eating lunch which consisted of Cheese Ravioli with Tomato Sauce, Lima Beans, Pears, Buttered Garlic Bread and Milk. Hand washing, table sanitizing, restroom procedures and nap time were also observed. Medication administration was not observed. Staff stated that there are no children being administered medication while in care and that there had not been any accidents or injuries incurred by children in care since the previous inspection. Transportation is not routinely provided fro children in care. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance. The licensee provided verbal responses to the violations during the inspection, which were entered on to the violation notice by the Licensing inspector.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a review of records, the licensee did not ensure that the center maintained a complete record for each child enrolled in the program. Evidence: 1. Four children's records were reviewed. the record for child #2 contained the place of employment for both parents but did not list one of the parent's work phone number. There was no information provided in this space on the enrollment form. 2. The record for child #3 listed 2 of two designated people to call in an emergency if a parent cannot be reached. However, the address for one of the two designated people was left blank. Plan of Correction: Staff #5 stated that this information was inadvertently overlooked and that she would contact the children's parents today to obtain the missing information and document it in the records.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
