An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. Ratios for all six groups were found in compliance. The children were participating in outside play, singing, playing circle games, eating lunch and getting ready for nap. The two new classrooms look good, well equipped and set up. Medication procedures were reviewed, and staff with current first aid, CPR and MAT certification were on site. Staff records were also reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on record review and interview, it was found that there was no staff person who had obtained the required training on how to administer an emergency rectal medication to a child, despite having an enrolled child with parent and physician authorization to administer this emergency medication. Plan of Correction: Emergency medication administration certificate has been obtained by staff.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-B Description: Based on record review, there was no documentation of a CPS central registry check or a criminal record check for two staff persons. Findings: At the time of the inspection, the inspector found that there was no documentation of the results of a CPS central registry check for staff person #1, and no documentation of the results of a criminal record check for staff person # 2. Both staff have been working since 2015. Plan of Correction: The Head Start Coordinator contacted the HR department to obtain the correct CPS and CBI background checks. We should have them on site by 11/1/16.
