Technical Assistance:
Standard 270.C and D: In Inside areas occupied by children, the temperature shall be maintained no lower than 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Fans or other cooling systems shall be used when the temperature of inside areas occupied by children exceeds 80 degrees Fahrenheit. When you have medically fragile children ( asthma or other medical issues) you must be very vigilant ensuring that those spaces occupied by children do not impact their health or aggravate their medical condition due to excessive heat. You should make sure all staff are vigilant in ensuring that no child is in distress because of the heat at the center.

Comments:
A complaint was received involving care, protection and guidance. Interviews, observations and a review of record keeping were conducted today. The complaint was determined to be invalid.
