Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was initiated today at 11:50am. The physical plant, 4 children's files, children's activities, emergency procedures, drills and supplies were inspected today. The outside play areas were not inspected today due to the weather conditions. There were 139 children under the supervision of 19 staff. In the child care program, there were 17 children under the supervision of 3 teachers. In the Pre-school programs, there were 122 children under the supervision of 16 teachers. During the inspection, children were observed cleaning up for and eating lunch, working on activities in organized centers, playing bingo, enjoying activity play in the gym, participating in circle time and watching a video. The interactions between the children and staff were seen to be positive and constructive in nature. The children bring their lunches in from home each day that they are in care. Staff files are not reviewed on site, but during an annual administrative file review. Should you have any questions, please contact me at mary.wizbicki@dss.virginia.gov
