63.2 Child Abuse and Neglect
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, 12/6/16. Upon entering the center each class was busy working on their Christmas decorations. After this activity the children played with the available toys in the various centers. Books were readily available for the children. Staff and children record's were reviewed during the inspection. The violations from the previous inspection have been corrected. A violation notice was completed regarding the violations found during today's inspection. There are 27 children in care in three classrooms ranging in age from 2 1/2 years to 5 five years with six staff. Today is "pack a lunch" day. The center had food available if food was forgotten or not sufficient. Diapering, hand washing and table sanitizing were also observed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation during the unannounced inspection the center failed to keep hazardous substances locked. Evidence: 1. In classroom #1 the storage closet was unlocked. Inside the closet is a washer and dryer and on top of the dryer and on the shelves in this room were bottles and containers of: carpet cleaner, window cleaner, Clorox, disinfectant sprays, counter cleaners, WD-40, Lysol, spray paint, Hot Shot, Drain cleaner, alcohol, Kleenaseptic and Googone. This area is accessible to the children. Plan of Correction: The door was locked during the inspection. Staff will ensure that the door is locked at all times.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-F Description: Based on observation during the inspection the center failed to keep children in sight supervision. Evidence: 1. In class #1 the two children were playing in the cut away area next to the door. The children playing in the area were not in sight supervision of the staff. Plan of Correction: The toys were moved into the larger area of the classroom so the teacher could maintain sight supervision. Staff will ensure that children are in sight supervision at all times.
