An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with center director and center staff. There were 45 children present, ranging in age from 2 1/2 months to 12 years old. The children were engaged in a variety of activities of water play, painting, playing the Wii, having a birthday celebration, and other age appropriate activities. The children's artwork is nicely displayed throughout the center. The last health inspection was conducted 11/19/2015. The last fire inspection was conducted 6/3/2016. Snack served today: graham crackers and bananas. Emergency medications for six children were reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B Description: Based on review of inspections, the facility failed to have documentation of an annual health inspection. Evidence: the last documented health inspection was conducted 11/18/2015. Plan of Correction: Center director will call the health department to schedule an inspection. The health permit issued by the health department is valid until January 31, 2017.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to maintain all areas in a clean and operable condition. Evidence: one of two toilets in the Montessori room was clogged and contained feces. The teacher stated it had been broken for a week. Plan of Correction: Center director e-mailed maintenance to fix the toilet.
