The licensing inspectors conducted an unannounced renewal inspection from 9:45am - 11:30am. There were thirteen preschool children in care with three staff. The children were observed arriving at the center, during breakfast and at story time. Two staff and three children's records were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. If you have any questions, please contact your licensing inspector at (276) 608-3758. Thank you for your cooperation.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation and measurement, the center failed to have 6 inches of resilient surfacing surrounding playground equipment. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the playground and measured the resilient surfacing. There was approximately 3 inches of resilient surfacing (bark mulch) at the end of the slide chute on the climber. The fall height of the climber was 24 inches. Plan of Correction: Staff will rake additional bark mulch into this area before the children use the playground. Staff will monitor the playground to ensure the mulch remains at the required depth.
