An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today at 10:00am. There were approximately 57 preschoolers directly supervised by 8 staff. The physical plant, 1 staff records, 5 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were in specials or observed on the playground. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that hazardous substances are kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1) Observed in Room 3 several packets of glasses cleaner in a child's cubby. The label reads keep out of reach of children. 2) Observed in Room 5 hand lotion on "shelf" near the teacher's desk, accessible to children. The label reads keep out of reach of children. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
