An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on January 24, 2017. Observations included indoor and outdoor areas, supervision, staff/child ratios, health and safety, medication, and children's records. Three children's records were reviewed. Three medications were reviewed. At arrival to the center, there were 34 children in care with four staff members. The children were observed participating in center, circle and story time, music and movement, participating a large group speech therapy activity and watching children's programming.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that medication shall be labeled with the child's name, the name of the medication, the dosage amount, and the time or times to be given. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on January 24, 2017, one of three medications reviewed, was not labeled with the child's name, the dosage amount and the time or times to be given. Plan of Correction: I will contact the Health Coordinator who will return the medication to the parent.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill for the most likely to occur scenarios. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on January 24, 2017, there was no documentation of an evacuation drill practiced in December 2016. Plan of Correction: The Health Coordinator and the Education/Disabilities Coordinator have been notified. We will now do our own if the school doesn't do them.
