Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection from 9:00am - 12:45pm. There were twenty nine children in care: eighteen children ages two to three downstairs with five staff and eleven preschoolers upstairs with two staff. One additional staff was also present. The children were observed at story time, playing in centers, during music time, playing with play dough and during lunch time. Two staff's and four children's records were reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N
Description: Based on review of medications, the center failed to return medication to parent in the required time period. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed the medication documentation and observed the medication at the center. There was a Proair inhaler for child #3. The medication authorization had expired and the medication had not been returned to the parent within 14 days.

Plan of Correction: The director will contact the child's parents and request an updated authorization for the medication.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on documentation review, the center failed to document practiced monthly evacuation drills. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed the fire drill documentation. The center did not practice an evacuation drill for the months of July, September and November 2016.

Plan of Correction: The center conducted additional evacuation drills to make up for the missing drills. The director will schedule, practice and document a monthly evacuation drill.
