An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-12:30pm. There were 85 (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 14 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children? records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in individual and group activities and lunchtime. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that hazardous substances were kept in a locked place that prevents access by children. Evidence: Observed Lysol spray marked Keep out of Reach of Children accessible to children in an unlocked cabinet under the sink. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that they were following center policies for outdated medications. Evidence: Observed that the center had expired medication that was not returned to the family, on site. Plan of Correction: I am going to give it back to the parents this evening.
Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-E-2 Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that the most recent violation notice was posted. Evidence: Observed that the most recent violation notice posted was dated 2/5/2017 and the last inspection took place on 9/29/16. Plan of Correction: I will print it out and post it.
