The licensing inspector for Bright Horizons @ Henrico conducted an unannounced inspection in response to a self reported issue that was received by the licensing office on 1/31/17. Interviews were conducted with staff relating to the allegation of inappropriate discipline. The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation does support the allegation, so the complaint is determined to be "valid".

Description: Based on interviews with staff and written documentation, the center did not ensure physical punishments was not used as behavioral guidance. Evidence: On January 31, 2017, a staff person was observed "smacking/hitting" a five year old child on the top of his head with a curriculum book. The child had hit the staff person who retaliated with this action.
