Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 950-1130. The Inspector walked through the classes and found all groups in ratio. The Inspector observed the Turtle's, Giraffe's, and Whale's classes and interviewed the children and staff. The children were engaged in several activities including shape recognition, using instruments, working with pipe cleaners, and painting Cat Tails with Dragonflies. The Inspector reviewed local agency inspections, evacuation drills, menu, medication authorizations, MAT certificates, staff files, children files, liability insurance, injury prevention plans. The outside play area is covered and the equipment is maintained. Please call with questions 703-479-4679

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation, the staff did not wash hands after wiping children's noses. Inspector observed two incidents in which a child's nose was wiped but staff did not wash hands.

Plan of Correction: Will remind the staff.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on observation, the center has stored prescription medication with the child's name written on the medication. The emergency medication does not include the prescription label to identify the child, dosage amount, and the time or times to be given.

Plan of Correction: We will request labels.
