63.2 Child Abuse and Neglect

Technical Assistance:
During inspection inspector discussed with teacher, director and educational coordinator the importance of age appropriate programming. In addition, proper supplies, tools and procedures to ensure that teachers are in compliance with licensing standards were also discussed.

Comments:
A complaint investigation was initiated on March 9 , 2017 regarding the proper handling of hazardous substances and age appropriate guidance . Interviews were conducted, documentation and photos were reviewed. There was a preponderance of evidence to support the allegation as a result, the complaint was deemed valid. The complaint related violations are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on interview and photo review hazardous substances were handled in a container which resemble food or beverage containers. Evidence: On 3/7/2017 during a class project teacher in toddler room used detergent in clear plastic cup similar to a drinking cup.

Plan of Correction: We will also make sure the activities in the classroom are safe EC will check projects .

Description: Based on interview and photo review, behavioral guidance during class room activity was not age and stage appropriate. Evidence: On 3/7/2017 toddler activity to promote the sense of smell involved hazardous substances which were not presented a way to protect children in that age group.

Plan of Correction: We have bought cup and lids for sensory projects with children. We will make sure no hazardous substances are near children.
