- Technical Assistance:
**Discussed the need for staff to ensure that they are following the manufacturers guidelines for disinfectant sprays. The spray used at the time of the inspection required that the surface where food was to be used is rinsed after it is cleaned.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:10am-12:20pm. There were 69 school-agers directly supervised by 5 staff. The physical plant, 3 staff training records, 5 children?s records, new medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, playing with electronic devices, painting, "Troll Hair" activity, lunch movie time. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-D Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that cleaning materials are not located above or near food, food equipment or utensils. Evidence: Observed soap stored next to a bag of dum dums and smarties. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that children's hands are washed with soap and running water or hand wipes before and after they eat meals and snacks. Evidence: Observed that a large number of children did not wash their hands before eating their lunches. Plan of Correction: All of the teachers will continue to direct the children to wash their hands before snack and lunch and also after eating and using the bathroom.
