Comments:
Today an unannounced monitoring visit was conducted with the Center Director. This visit took place in the morning there were 17 classrooms observed with a total of 143 children with 28 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed having outdoor play, lunch, story-time, and nap time. Lunch consisted of hamburgers, melon, and tater tots. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, medication and emergency procedures weer observed. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-2
Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, loose cords were found in 2 classrooms presenting a tripping/hanging hazard to children. Evidence: In the 2's & 3's classroom, a loose cord to the radio & light cord was found in the classroom presenting a fall/hanging hazard to children.

Plan of Correction: Center Director stated that an extension cord will be added to tape to the base board or along the wall to prevent access to children.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation of the children during lunch, Children's hands were not washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks. Evidence: In the 18month old classroom, a child was observed after eating lunch/fruit getting up from the table and going to put on there jacket without hands washed.

Plan of Correction: Director spoke with staff to remind them about handwashing after snack and every meal.
