An unannounced Child Day Center Subsidy Inspection was conducted on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Some, but not all, licensing standards were inspected. The following staff to child ratios were observed: Two Year Old Classroom : fourteen children with two staff Lily Room - (3's) nine children with one staff Room 3 - (3's) ten children with one staff Room 4 - (3's) ten children with one staff Room 1 - (4's) eighteen children with two staff Room 2 - (4's) fourteen children with two staff Poppy Room (4's) nine children with one staff Children were observed having story time with the local librarian. Other observations included children building with "sticky blocks", discussing animals and the life cycle of butterflies. The children are learning the shape "octagon" and the numbers #13 and the letter "D". They are also learning an author a month. Currently, there are eighteen staff certified in first aid and CPR. Three staff are certified in daily health observation. All eighteen staff have completed the Virginia Pre-Service Training for Child Care Staff. Two staff records and five children's records were inspected.
