An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:50am-1:00pm. There were 12 children directly supervised by 2 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff training records, 4 children?s records, 1 medication, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed between the morning and afternoon sessions eating lunch from home and playing outdoors. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, not all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: A canister of sanitizing wipes and a box of chemical sponges were observed in an open bin on a shelf above the sink. Plan of Correction: The site will lock up the chemicals.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, not all electrical outlets were outfitted with protective coverings. Evidence: A power strip was observed in the lunch bunch r with six exposed outlets. Plan of Correction: The center will install protective covers.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on observation, food brought from home was not labeled with the current date. Evidence: The lunches brought from home were not labeled with the date. Plan of Correction: The center will remind parent to date their child's lunches.
