Technical Assistance:
We reviewed the procedures for staff oversight of children's needs during lunch and ensuring that staff sit with children if they are not assisting with food service needs. Also, we talked about positioning of staff on the playground for active supervision. It was recommended that the gravel is regularly removed from the concrete steps outside.

Comments:
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 11:20 AM to 3:40 PM. Today, there were one-hundred children, ages five to thirteen years, with nine to eleven staff. I viewed program activities, staffing, supervision, interaction with children, equipment, posted information, agency reports, five records for children, training/site records for seven staff, lunch/snacks, daily routines, injury records, emergency supplies and drill records, staff qualifications, indoor and outdoor areas. The children were provided opportunities for active play in the gym and outdoors in the moon bounce and on the playground. A variety of group experiences included art, discussions about germs, and legos. Hand washing routines were followed as required. Staff supervision during transitions in the hall ensured sight and sound of all children. No violations cited at this time. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259
