Comments:
A subsidy health and safety inspection was completed on May 19, 2017. The purpose of this visit was to measure the facility's compliance with the subsidy requirements. The following ratios were observed: Infants-3:12; Toddlers-2:9; Discovery Preschool-2:8; Preschool-2:16; Pre-k-2:9
The children throughout the facility were engaged in activity. The infants were eating, sleeping, singing songs with staff and playing on the floor. Children in the toddler through four year old classes were observed coloring, listening to stories, playing with toys, working in learning centers and playing on the playground. Staff was observed interacting with the children and providing assistance when needed. All areas of the center including classrooms, hallways, bathrooms and playgrounds were inspected. The facility was equipped with manipulatives and supplies and items were available to the children. The following information was reviewed: emergency preparedness plan, fire and shelter-in-place drills, liability insurance policy, parent agreements, and staff training information. Medication is administered; medication authorizations were reviewed. Staff is certified in cpr/first aid, daily health screening and MAT.

During the inspection, five children's records and four staff records were reviewed. Records of children with diagnosed food allergies were reviewed and contained allergy action plans. Allergy action plans were also found on the buses for children that are transported. Staff records reviewed all contained documentation of CPR and first aid and Virginia Pre-service training. The first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected and found to be complete.
