Discussion was held on the topics of current enrollment, current staffing, subsidy, future finger print background checks, and on the recent field trip the Lion's Room took to the US Capitol Building to tour and meet US Congresswoman Barbara Comstock.
The following inspection took place between the hours of 9 am through 1 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the Goddard School located in Ashburn, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced renewal inspection there were a total of 114 children with 17 classroom staff; good ratios in all 9 rooms. A total of 5 children?s files and 5 staff files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: center activities within each classroom, art, science, large motor skills outside on playground, infant feeding, diaper changing, reading, story time, toy play, learning, music, lunch, nap time, and other organized activities. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, an outside area of the center was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (05/18/2017), two surface cracks (on protective surfacing - "poured in place") were observed on the school-age playground that is located outside the "Lion's Room." One crack is over 1 foot in length and is located to the left of the jungle gym. The second, smaller crack is located to the right of the jungle gym. 2. Both of these cracks, given there size and location in well traveled areas, serve as possible tripping hazards. 3. Children were observed playing in this area on the date of inspection. Plan of Correction: Maintenance shall be contacted in order to repair both areas. Staff shall monitor to ensure that the children do not play directly or around these two areas.

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K.
