An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 5/23/2017. The inspector arrived at 3:00 PM and ending at 5:00 PM. Staff files were reviewed on May 16, 2017 at the main office of the YMCA. There were twenty-two children in care today. The inspector observed the children in the gym area playing several different games and at snack. There were no medications at the site today. The staff files and a sample of children's files were reviewed today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that all chemicals were locked. Evidence: 1. Sitting on the table in the cafeteria there were a container of cleaning wipes and a spray bottle that were unlocked and accessible to the children in care. Plan of Correction: The staff will remove all cleaning supplies prior to children arriving.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-B Description: Based on review of the emergency preparedness plan, the center did not ensure that all required components were established. Evidence: 1. The following components were not in the emergency preparedness plan: established emergency officer and backup with 24 hour contact information, notification of local authorities, communication after the evacuation, and first and second means of egress. Plan of Correction: The director will add the missing information and will ensure all staff have a copy.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-N Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that all children did not walk around while eating or drinking. Evidence: 1. At least five children on multiple occasions were walking around eating and drinking snack. Plan of Correction: The site director will have the children to sit during snack and meals.
