Discussed: resilient surfacing and outdoor bicycles.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-1:30pm. There were 154 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 33 staff. The physical plant, 6 staff records, 5 children?s records, 4 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in singing songs, completing puzzles, practicing writing. Children were also observed in "specials" including Art, Spanish, Music, and Computer classes. Infants being fed were held. Diapering and handwashing procedures were observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Lunch served today was asiago chicken, carrots, brown rice and milk. Children and staff interactions were observed and viewed as positive. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, substances labelled keep out of reach of children were kept in an unlocked place. Evidence: In the toddler room, an essential oil, labeled keep out of reach of children, was placed in an unlocked upper cabinet. In preschool room 2, a bleach and water bottle was kept in an unlocked cabinet. Plan of Correction: Both materials were placed in a locked cabinet using a safe locking method at the time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, two unused outlets did not have protective covers in place. Evidence: In Pre K room 3, two electrical outlets located to the left of the sink did not have protective covers in place. Plan of Correction: Protective covers were put in place at the time of inspection.
