An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with center director, administrator, and center staff. There were 67 children present, ranging in age from 5 months to 12 years, in care today. The children were playing outdoors, having lunch, and having rest time. Lunch served today: ham and cheese sandwiches, cucumbers, apple slices, and milk. Two emergency medications for one child were reviewed and are in compliance. Several staff are certified in Medication Administration Training. The last health inspection was conducted 6/16/2017. The last fire inspection was conducted 1/26/2017. The pool will likely open next Monday. A lifeguard has been hired for the summer. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-A Description: Based on review of 8 new staff files, the facility failed to have documentation of a tuberculosis test or screening within 21 days of employment on file. Evidence: Staff C (date of hire 3/16/2017), Staff D (date of hire 10/112016), and Staff E (date of hire 3/6/2017). Plan of Correction: Center staff will get documentation of a tuberculosis test or screening and put in the file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on review of 3 new staff files, the facility failed to have documentation of two references prior to hire. Evidence: Staff B did not have documentation of two references. Plan of Correction: Facility will call and check two references for each staff.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to have children wash hands before and after eating lunch. Evidence: the children in the twos classroom did not wash their hands after eating lunch today. Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to wash hands before and after snack.
