Comments:
An investigation in response to a self-reported incident was initiated on April 19, 2017 and ended on June 5, 2017 regarding a school age child reporting that a caregiver pushed them into a seat. Interviews were conducted and documentation and video-camera footage were reviewed. There was not a preponderance of evidence to support the allegation of the child being "pushed in a chair" however, after investigation a violation was issued as the conduct observed was not constructive in nature. The violation related to the self-reported incident is identified in the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact Sharlene Sawyer at ( 571) 389-0519 or Sharlene.Sawyer@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-B
Description: Based on interviews and review of video footage a caregiver did not practice behavioral guidance constructive in nature. Evidence: A video review on 4/27/2017 of an incident which took place on 3/28/2017 showed staff interacting with a child in an argumentative manner the staff appeared to be blocking the child's movement and preventing the child from walking away while he was talking to him. The child was then escorted to a chair and remained there away from other children for an extended period of time. The behavior guidance was not constructive and did not display appropriate behavior to resolve conflicts.
