22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)

An announced inspection was conducted related to a record review for three staff records. The areas of background checks, qualifications, training and administration were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. The results of the inspection were reviewed during the exit interview.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-C
Description: Based a record review and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure that program directors and staff who work directly with children shall annually attend 16 hours of staff development activities that are related to child safety and development and the function of the center. Evidence: During the inspection on June 28, 2017, one out of three records reviewed did not include documentation to indicate staff #2 had obtained the required 16 hours of annual training. There was only 12 and 1/2 hours documented of annual training for August 2015 until September 2016. The Senior Recreation Coordinator Training verified the training documentation.

Plan of Correction: The Senior Recreation Coordinator Training will contact the staff and set up a training schedule to complete them immediately.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
