Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on July 5, 2017 from approximately 11:15 AM to 2:35 PM. Five staff were present with thirty-three children ranging in age from infants through school age. Six staff and five children's records were reviewed. Licensing Inspector reviewed standards related to supervision, activities, equipment, infant feedings, diapering procedures, emergency preparedness plan, fire and health inspection reports, emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drill documentation, emergency supplies and required postings. Violations were reviewed with and verified by the program director.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation, facility did not ensure staff wash their hands after changing a child's diaper. Evidence: On July 5, 2017, a staff member was observed changing a child's diaper in the infant room. The staff member did not wash her hands after completing the diaper change and resuming classroom activities.

Plan of Correction: Program Director will review all diapering and sanitizing procedures with staff. A policy will be written and all staff will sign acknowledgment.

Description: Based on observation, facility did not ensure requirements are met when a child's diaper is changed. Evidence: On July 5, 2017, a staff member was observed changing a child's diaper in the infant room. The diapering surface was not cleaned and sanitized after the diaper change.

Plan of Correction: Program Director will review all diapering and sanitizing procedures with staff. A policy will be written and all staff will sign acknowledgment.
