Center is currently undergoing renovations of the front foyer, please excuse the appearance. The work is taking place in the evenings when the children have left the building.
Today an unannounced renewal visit was conducted with the Principal. This visit took place in the morning between 8:30am-12 there were 7 classrooms observed with a total of 89 children with 20 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed having morning snack, circle time, indoor play, and lunch. Snack today consisted of English muffins, and blueberries. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, incident report, medications and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of the staff records, 4 staff records did not include documentation of 2 or more references. Evidence: Staff #1,2 3 & #4's record did not include documentation that the references were check and verified prior to employment. Plan of Correction: Principal stated that she will go back and document the references.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-210-A Description: Based on review of staff records, one program leader did not meet qualifications. Evidence: Staff #1 record did not include documentation in English of a Degree, CDA, Early headstart certificate or hours. Plan of Correction: Principal will have the documentation translated to determine if they meet the qualifications. A staff member who is lead qualified will be added to the classroom to assist until documentation is provided.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-A Description: Based on review of staff records, the following staff records did not include documentation of training by the end of first day or employment. Evidence: Staff #1, 2 & #3's records, did not include documentation of orientation training. Plan of Correction: Principal will make sure that the orientation training is completed for each staff and documented immediately.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the center, the following areas of the center were not being maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: In the Prek2 classroom, a small hole was found on the floor near the sink. Plan of Correction: Principal stated she will contact maintenance to have the hole fixed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation of the classroom, the following hazardous substances were found accessible to children. Evidence: In the Prek1 classroom, a cooking spray was found in the classroom on a shelf near the sink accessible to the children. Plan of Correction: Staff immediately removed the spray during this inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-B Description: Based on a review of the staff records, 3 staff records did not include documentation of Central Registry Check before 30 days of employment ends. Evidence: Staff #1,2 & #3's record who all have been employed over 30 days at the center, did not include CPS checks. Plan of Correction: Principal stated that she will have them submitted and sent out immediately.
