An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today with the afternoon director. Fifty two children and eight staff were present during the inspection. The children were on the playground at the beginning of the inspection and then they had snow cones from the ice cream truck. Six children had medications on site. Seven staff files were reviewed as well as five children's files. Arrival time: 1:25 p.m. Departure time: 3: 40 p.m.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Description: Based on observation, it was determined that the center failed to ensure the care and protection of children in care. Evidence: When the Licensing Inspector (LI) arrived at the school the children and six staff were on the playground. The LI asked the staff how many children were present on the playground and none of the six staff informed the LI of the number of children present and not until a staff counted were they able to report the there were 52 children present. Plan of Correction: We will retrain all staff about the importance of knowing the number of children present at all times.
