- Technical Assistance:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on August 1, 2017 at 9:15 a. m. and concluded at 12:15 p. m. The inspector met with the staff and Child Day Center standards were reviewed. The following staff-to-child ratios and activities were observed. Infants: There were three infants with one staff. Older Infant/Toddlers: There were four toddlers with one staff. Two Years: There were eight children with one staff. Preschool (Three Years) There were nine children with one staff. The children were observed playing outside on bikes and having free play. Pre-K (Four-Five Years): There were seven children with one staff. The children were observed having free play outside on the playground. School Age: There were 15 children with two staff. The children were sitting at tables playing games. Four children's records were reviewed. Four staff records were reviewed. Two classroom observations were conducted. Conversations were held with several staff and children. There were no medications on site today. The last monthly evacuation drill was conducted on 7/5/17. The last shelter-in-place drill was conducted on 5/4/17.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B Description: Based on observation the center did not have an updated annual Health Inspection. Evidence: On 8/1/17, the most recent Health Inspection was dated 7/27/17. Plan of Correction: The center contacted the Health Department and requested an inspection this week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation the center did not have all hazardous substances locked. Evidence: On 8/1/17, there were two bottles of cleaning supplies unlocked in a cabinet hanging on the wall in the boy's bathroom. Plan of Correction: The cleaning supplies were locked up while the inspector was present.
