Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection from 10:15am - 1:15pm. There were 44 children in care: 24 children downstairs with four staff and 20 children upstairs with three staff. The children were observed at music, playing on the playground, during lunch and preparing for naps. Five staff and five children's records were reviewed. Violations from the previous inspection were also reviewed and all had been corrected. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to have medication stored in a locked place. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the medication in the downstairs classroom. There was an Epi-pen and a bottle of allergy medicine stored in a cabinet drawer. There was a lock on the drawer, but the lock was broken.

Plan of Correction: The director moved the medication to a locked place during the inspection. A new lock will be placed on the drawer today.
