- Technical Assistance:
Licensing Inspector arrived at 8:30am and departed at 1:30pm to conduct a Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection. At the time of the tour there were 45 school age children with four staff members and one volunteer. Children were observed playing freely with tabletop activities, having morning snack and lunch, doing an organized activity in the gym and playing outdoors. The sample size was five children's records and four staff records.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E Description: Based on review, the vendor did not ensure that all staff providing care to children shall have within 30 days of the date of employment or 90 days from subsidy vendor approval: Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration; and Current certification in first aid. Evidence: There was no documentation of CPR/First Aid training for Staff #3 who has been employed for longer than 30 days since June20, 2017. Plan of Correction: Going forward we will make sure that all staff receive CPR/FA training within 30 days of their first date of employment.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-031-A Description: Based on review, the vendor did not ensure that the center have a written emergency preparedness plan that addresses staff responsibility and facility readiness with respect to emergency evacuation, relocation, lockdown and shelter-in-place procedures with all required procedural components. Evidence: 1. The evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures did not include procedures to address accommodations or special requirements for children with special needs to ensure their safety during evacuation or relocation and shelter-in-place and procedures to address reuniting children with parents or authorized person designated by the parent to pick up the child after the evacuation and shelter-in-place. 2. There were no lockdown procedures with the following required procedural components: Methods to alert staff and emergency responders; Methods to secure the facility and designated lockdown locations; Methods to account for all children in the lockdown locations; Methods of communication with parents and emergency responders; Accommodations or special requirements for children with special needs to ensure their safety during lockdown; and Procedures to address reuniting children with parents or authorized person designated by the parent to pick up the child. Plan of Correction: Site supervisor will review and update the plan to incorporate all procedural components.
