Discussed changes to the background checks
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 8:20 am-11:15. At the time of entrance, 41 children were in care with11 staff members present. Children were observed during snack time and engaged in group activities. The playground and surfacing was inspected. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. A management office has been constructed in the foyer of the child care center. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-A Description: Based on record review, staff have not received the required training by the end of their first day of assuming job responsibility. Evidence: Staff #1, hired 7/10/17 and staff #2 hired 3/6/17 does not have documentation that they have received the required new employee orientation training. Plan of Correction: The staff have received Bright Horizon orientation, the director will complete the state model form showing that the staff have received the required training.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review, the center has not implemented a shelter in place drill twice per year. Evidence: The most recent documented shelter in place drill was dated 3/31/16. Plan of Correction: A shelter in place drill will be implemented in August and December.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-C Description: Based on record review, staff has not obtained a central registry finding before three years from the dates of the last form. Evidence: Staff #3 most recent central registry on file was dated 2/10/11. There is documentation from OBI that the request was received on 1/4/16 but the director did not receive the completed form. Plan of Correction: The central registry form for staff # 3 has been completed, notarized and will be mailed today.
