- Technical Assistance:
An exiting meeting was completed by the licensing inspector with center's director to review the findings of today's inspection. The licensing inspector reviewed the background checks updates effective July 1, 2017.
The licensing inspector conducted an announced monitoring inspection on Tuesday, July 8, 2017 from approximately 9:45 am to 12:00 pm to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. During this inspection, there were no children in care at the center. The Director was present and assisted the licensing inspector throughout this inspection. The designated classrooms, bathroom, kitchen area, and overall facility were inspected. The classrooms were observed to be equipped with age appropriate toys and materials to meet the children's ages and stages of development. During this inspection, the required postings were reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The following information was reviewed: emergency supplies, menu, daily activities, fire and shelter-in-place drills, liability insurance policy, and emergency preparedness plan to include the lockdown procedures. Medication is not being administered at the center. The center does not provide transportation. There were two children?s records and three staff's records reviewed during this inspection.
The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of the drills log and an interview with staff, the center did not complete one of the monthly practice evacuation drills.
Evidence: The center's last documented monthly evacuation drill was completed on 06/30/17. The interview with staff revealed that children were in care for the month of July.
Plan of Correction: The center will ensure that monthly drills are completed as required. A monthly drill will be practiced tomorrow, August 9, 2017.
