Thank you for your time and assistance with the unannounced annual subsidy health and safety inspection conducted today, August 10, 2017. The on-site inspection was conducted from 10:35 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There were 122 children in the care of 19 staff. Enrollment for the program was 165 children. There were ten staff members' records and ten children's records reviewed. The medication and medication paperwork were reviewed for three children. Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-D Description: Based on record review and confirmation from the director, the center failed to provide orientation training to one staff member on all required topics. Evidence: 1. Staff Member #9 did not receive training on the topics of shaken baby syndrome, safe sleep, and food allergies within the first seven days of employment. Her date of hire was 05/16/2017 and she received the training on 08/02/2017. 2. The director confirmed the staff member did not take the Virginia Preservice Training until 08/02/2017. Plan of Correction: The director will talk to her educational specialist and request that they update the staff orientation training to include all of the required topics or will have the staff complete the Virginia Preservice Training within the first seven days of employment.
