T. A. was provided on background checks and expired medications.
The inspector conducted an unannounced two month monitoring inspection from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m There were 44 children in care with staff maintaining ratios at all times. The cook and administrative staff were also present. Children were observed lining up and playing outside, eating lunch, and getting ready to nap. Medications and the corresponding paperwork were reviewed. Five children's records and five staff records were reviewed. The violation from the last inspection has been corrected. The violation from today is identified on the violation notice. Please call your inspector at 276-698-9981 with any questions.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-1 Description: Based on record review, the center did not have the required background checks for all employees. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed five staff records. One of five records (#3) did not have a criminal history report in the file. The date of hire is 8/24/2016. Plan of Correction: The director said that the background check had been mailed and others returned but not this one. The director will call to check on the background check. This person had been rehired recently and one criminal background check had been completed.
