22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
Licensing Inspector arrived at 11:50am and departed at 3:30pm. At the end of the inspection there were 60 children in care with 10 staff. Children were observed eating lunch a return from a field trip was also observed. The sample size 6 children's records and 6 staff records. Violations were cited in the area of physical plant.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation it was determined that the provider shall maintain the equipment of the center in a safe operable condition. Evidence: Located on the outside of the center building a wire was mounted and unsecured. Children returning from a field trip were pulling on the wire that was loose from the building. Plan of Correction: Center staff advised that a work order will be submitted to have the wire fixed and properly secured and mounted.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation it was determined that the provider did not ensure that hazardous substances are kept in a secure location. Evidence: The janitor door that was adjacent to the rear exit door was unlocked and stored rock salt deicer. Plan of Correction: The door was locked during the inspection. Center management continue to ensure the door is always locked and will advised staff to ensure door is always locked.
