The following was discussed with administration: *240-D-5 *At least one staff w/ current DHO training *Please review the center's emergency plans and ensure it is site specific to your program. *It is recommended the manufacturer instructions are followed on playground equipment.
An announced initial inspection was conducted from 11:25am-12:15pm. A tour of the facility and spaces to be used for children were inspected in addition to 2 staff records. The center plans to provide care for preschool and school-age children before and after school.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure electrical outlets had protective covers. Evidence: In the gym there were 8 electrical outlets that were not covered. Preschool children will have access to these areas. Plan of Correction: The director will get protective covers for all electrical outlets and keep extras to ensure they are covered at all times.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-F Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure when child size toilets, urinals, and low sinks are not available in restrooms used by children of preschool age and younger, one or more platforms or sets of steps were provided. Evidence: In the bathrooms that the preschool children will be using there were no steps or platforms available for them to reach the adult size toilets and sinks. Plan of Correction: The director will ensure there are step stools in each bathroom.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-C Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures/maps were posted in a location conspicuous to staff and children on each floor of each building. Evidence: The center did not have a map that showed evacuation or shelter-in-place routes. Plan of Correction: The center is working on specific emergency plans that will include these maps.
